BREAKING NEWS…

Katie Hobbs’ research is led by Elizabeth Sena and John Barry.

The 2022 Election is barely in the books and the results are clear – our strategic insights and advice helped successful campaigns fight and win tough races and buck the trend across the country.

From state houses to the halls of Congress, GQR helped make history in 2022. We created an integrated combination of insightful strategies across polling, digital, analytics and communications to help our clients win tough races from coast to coast.

And just this week, GQR extended our winning streak – building on the success of 2018 and 2020 to help hold the United States Senate.

We successfully helped hold FOUR incumbent US Senate seats.

In the last 16 years, 8 cycles, GQR is unmatched in US Senate wins.

With our four wins this year our new record is 25-1.

We saw long-time client Sen. Maggie Hassan win a resounding victory in the Granite State with nearly 54% of the vote. For the second time in two years, we helped Sen. Mark Kelly cross the finish line in Arizona, beating his opponent by four points.

In Colorado we worked with Sen. Michael Bennet to win by his largest vote share ever. In the state of Connecticut, we partnered with Sen. Richard Blumenthal to win re-election with nearly 58% of the vote.

Our work on the independent expenditure side cemented Sen. Patty Murray’s re-election in Washington and helped lead Sen. Raphael Warnock to win a plurality of the votes in Georgia, where he is well positioned to win the run-off in December.

We helped re-elect FIVE Frontline Members to the House of Representatives.

We are proud to have worked with smart, thoughtful, and determined members of the DCCC’s Frontline Program to win re-election: Rep. Matt Cartwright (PA-08), Rep. Chris Pappas (NH-01), Rep. Kim Schrier (WA-08), Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-07) and Rep. Susan Wild (PA-07).

GQR helped secure victories in THREE Open House Seats in NC, OH and PA.

In North Carolina, State Senator Don Davis was elected to Congress with 52% of the vote. His victory secured an open House seat stayed in Democratic control. Congressman-Elect Davis (NC-01) is a veteran, an educator, a minister and continues to be a dedicated public servant.

In the Buckeye State, Emilia Sykes also insured an open House seat remained in the Democratic column winning 53% of the vote. Congresswoman-Elect Sykes (OH-13) is a tested state legislator who will bring a fresh perspective to Washington, and fight for Northeast Ohio.

Congresswoman-Elect Summer Lee (PA-12) beat back a deluge of negative attacks to emerge victorious last week – keeping control of this open House seat with 56% of the vote. As the first Black woman ever elected to Congress from Pennsylvania, she is committed to building a better future where working people can thrive.

What do all three of these House wins have in common?
In all three districts we helped elect a Black candidate in a majority white congressional district.

The re-election of FOUR Members of the US House of Representatives

We are thrilled to have helped our clients win re-election to the US House of Representatives. Congratulations to Rep. Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07), Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01), Rep. Dean Phillips (MN-03), and Rep. Marilyn Strickland (WA-10).

Working together with outside groups we were able to secure TEN WINS for
the Democratic House Caucus.

Partnering with our friends at House Majority PAC we helped secure wins in AZ-04 (Greg Stanton), MI-03 (Hillary Scholten), NM-01 (Rep. Melanie Stansbury), NM-03 (Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez), TX-28 (Rep. Henry Cuellar) and TX-34 (Vicente Gonzalez). In partnership with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s IE we helped win tough races in IL-13 (Nikki Budzinski), KS-03 (Rep. Sharice Davids), MI-03 (Hillary Scholten) and OR-06 (Andrea Salinas).

State Elections Matter. GQR’s research helped elect SIX candidates to STATEWIDE OFFICE. All of them WOMEN.

Katie Hobbs, the Secretary of State who stood up to a mob in 2020 was just elected Governor of Arizona. These election results may have taken a week, but we always knew where she was going to end up once all the ballots were counted – in the Governor’s Mansion.

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham was re-elected Tuesday. In this hard-fought campaign, she faced 24 attack ads on crime, more than any other gubernatorial candidate in the country, and won despite them.

Winning the top office in New Mexico wasn’t all we did in the Land of Enchantment. We partnered with Verde Voters of NM to help Stephanie Garcia Richard secure a second term as Public Lands Commissioner.

Working with our partners at the Democratic Governors Association IE, we helped secure another term for Maine Governor Janet Mills.

In Michigan, we helped Jocelyn Benson secure her re-election as Secretary of State with 56% of the vote. She received more votes than any candidate standing for statewide office in the 2022 election.

We are excited about Stephanie Thomas’ election to Secretary of State of Connecticut. She made the centerpiece of her campaign expanding access to the ballot box by supporting the referendum to allow in-person early voting in the Nutmeg State.

GQR worked with the MN DFL to FLIP the State Senate Chamber.

We put our decades of experience to use with the Minnesota Senate DFL, helping them hold two competitive seats Trump won while picking up a seat in the Metro area, giving them the majority. Minnesota now has a trifecta.

Our Digital Team

GQR Digital worked with the National Democratic Campaign Committees and individual campaigns across the country to support Frontline and red-to-blue congressional candidates, five winning Senate campaigns, Governor JB Pritzker in Illinois, and Governor-Elect Josh Shapiro in Pennsylvania. From trainings and social listening research to regular strategic guidance and rapid response support, we helped campaigns stay relentlessly on-message while navigating a volatile online political landscape to reach voters where they are – and with winning messages.

Through our work with the Strategic Victory Fund, we also supported 400+ advocacy groups and state tables with the tools, resources, and guidance to inoculate against harmful online narratives – including in pivotal battleground states like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Michigan. Our partnership with Indivisible’s Truth Brigade has also helped leverage relational organizing to combat mis/disinformation, a core part of our continued battle for democracy and progressive gains.

We know this is a lot to taken in –
GQR and our clients had a great election night.

We worked with some amazing people this cycle and value their contributions to democracy. As the oldest firm in the Democratic polling space, we have once again proven that finding the right message matters. And just in case these victories aren’t enough, we wanted leave you with some amazing statistics from Election Night 2022:

GQR helped elect:

  • 36 Democrats
  • 22 women
  • 11 candidates of color
  • 4 candidates of color in majority white congressional districts

In the last 20 years, 10 cycles in New Hampshire,

GQR is unmatched in federal election wins.

With our two wins this year our new record is 14-0 in
NH Senate/Governor/House races.

It has been a privilege to work with fantastic campaign teams and candidates to implement a vision to help elect leaders at every level of government.

Since pollsters are all about getting the numbers right, we’d say these Toplines speak for themselves.
