Ethan Smith is a Vice President at GQR. Ethan joined GQR as the Director of State Legislative Programs in 2015 after leading the Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee (PA HDCC) for the past three years. While he was Caucus Director, the PA HDCC saw historic fundraising in the minority, an unprecedented number of women candidates, and improvements in its field operation and member engagement. Prior to his work with the PA HDCC, Ethan worked on campaigns at all levels across the country including Hillary Clinton for President, Darcy Burner for Congress (WA-08), Luke Ravenstahl for Mayor (Pittsburgh), Dan Onorato for Governor (PA), and Rich Fitzgerald for Allegheny County Executive. He also serves on the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund’s Victory Campaign Board.  

Ethan studied Political Science and History at the University of Pittsburgh with focuses in American politics and the late Medieval/early Modern English era, respectively. His paper on how the different legal systems of Scotland and England affected the witchcraft trials in Europe is available upon request.
