Greenberg Quinlan Rosner congratulates the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) – and especially its President, Vlad Filat, and Prime Minister Iurie Leanca – for their successful outcome in this Sunday’s parliamentary election.  According to preliminary results, PLDM won the most votes among the three leading pro-European parties, and their forceful advocacy of a European future for Moldova helped give the pro-European parties a plurality of the vote, which should give these parties a majority of seats in the next parliament.  PLDM has been the senior coalition partner, and has held the Prime Minister’s office, since 2009; during that time, PLDM helped guide Moldova’s historic steps toward European integration, including this year’s signing and ratification of Moldova’s Association Agreement with the European Union. Throughout the campaign, PLDM highlighted the ways in which a European future will improve daily life for Moldovans, including through more employment, better living standards, increased trade and investment, free travel, and stronger protections for peace and human rights. Greenberg Quinlan Rosner wishes PLDM and the people of Moldova success as they pursue their European path.
